POWERS OF TEN

How does the Power of ten relate to design and other other disciplines?

Its all in the details!
Try narrowing things down to there basic makeup. The closer you look the more detail you see. While the larger view allows you to see the component in its entirety and how it relates too or is impacted by the object, circumstance, action, and other surrounding elements.

Use a different approach for exploration!
As seen in the short file Powers of Ten, magnifying and increasing distance reveals more.
Another method is to us light to unveil aspects of materials.
Shining light through a clear prism projects the color spectrum.
Shining light through the back of translucent layers of colored paper uncovers the colors hidden beneath the top layer.

Where can it be seen in design?
The image below is a fabric a wall hanging designed by Verner Panton.

He uses progression and regression of form to create a the pattern and over dominant shape.

Are there Powers of Ten in the human body?
Having ten fingers, five digits on each hand, allows us to grasp. Specifically the thumb and the location of it allows us to better interact with our environment.
